We can’t wait for the November wedding of our awesome, smart, and fun couple Amanda & Andy at Christ the King and City Place. And we received some great compliments from them on their wedding website! http://www.mywedding.com/amandaandandrewmiller/custom.html
For the September Bi-Monthly Education Program of the Dallas Chapter of the International Special Event Society, renowed wedding designer Sasha Souza was featured as our keynote speaker and was promoting her new book Signature Sasha: Magnificent Weddings by Design. Indeed the book did serve as inspiration for Significant Events’ design and coordination of the event! With the help of graphic design firm Orange Spot Pink Nose, we took quotes straight from Sasha’s book and branded them on virtually everything. The floral centerpieces, lighting, cake, menu, charger, party favors, bar sign, and signage for platforms containing models wearing wedding dresses all displayed an appropriate quote from the book. Guests loved the branding elements and they helped to make it a beautiful and educational evening all around!
Medical software design firm The T-System found themselves in a bit of a stressful situation. Their internal event planner left the company just 3 short months prior to their annual multi-day conference for 300 clients and employees. They needed someone to come in and take the reins and execute a successful conference, and that is just what Significant Events did! Our tasks included overseeing conference personnel and keeping everyone on task, securing Keynote and Case Study Speakers, functioning as the liaison between the conference hotel and the company, coordinating audio/visual needs for all presenters, assembling and distributing conference materials, manning the registration desk at the conference, overseeing break-out sessions and social receptions, and generally making sure things ran smoothly. During the conference itself, we were on-site 24/7 as the Go-To event staff. In the end, we heard numerous conference attendees praise how smoothly things ran, and we were glad to have been able to step in and help this company create an event that was both educational, entertaining, and effective.
To celebrate, Kevin & Emily’s engagement, Transition Capital Partners pulled out all the stops for the party at the sprawling Lakewood estate of the company’s CEO. Guests were greeted by valet parking and signature frozen cocktails. Delicious hors d’ourves and a buffet dinner were served with a gelato station for dessert that was loved by kids and adults alike. Live musical entertainment provided the backdrop for a beautiful evening to celebrate the couple’s impending nuptials.
After a year of hard work, the Sounds of the Season gala finally arrived, and it was well worth the wait! Guests were astonished by the beauty of the venue as they entered a virtual winter wonderland right in the heart of Dallas. Classical ballet performances from The Nutcracker kicked off the evening, as guests enjoyed the delicious food that was served by Wolfgang Puck Catering. Significant Events personalized the event by naming each table after a DHF patient rather than just assigning standard table numbers. At each guest’s seat was a beautiful black and white portrait of their table’s namesake with their testimonial on the back of the photo. After moving videos and speeches from DHF recipients, there wasn’t a dry eye left in the house, and the presenters received numerous standing ovations! Guests showed their support for the foundation by shopping the silent auction and making individual donations. As they left for the evening, guests received music CD’s in their cars which contained a thank you from the DHF president and played classic sounds of the holiday season. In the end we raised thousands of dollars for a worthy cause and put the Dallas Hearing Foundation “on the map” in the philanthropic world for years to come. Significant Events is so proud to have been such a large part of this event!
Cheryl’s husband hired Significant Events to coordinate a fun and memorable evening for his wife’s big birthday, and we even managed to keep it a secret the entire time! Significant Events included many personal touches into the party such as enlarged photos of Cheryl throughout the years that guests could enhance with their own comments written on speech bubbles! Each table contained a custom made centerpiece paying tribute to Cheryl’s favorite things, and this theme was continued on the topsy-turvy tiered cake as well. Guests enjoyed roasting Cheryl on the microphone and then dancing to their favorite songs played by the DJ. It was definitely a birthday Cheryl will never forget!
Significant Events is proud to be working with the Dallas Hearing Foundation to produce their first annual fundraising gala on December 19th, 2009 at Union Station in Dallas. The DHF has provided cochlear implants, hearing aids, auditory-verbal therapy, and educational support with over $1 million in services since 1997. In order to kick off the major fundraising push for the gala and to educate the public about the Foundation, the DHF hosted a Gala Kick-Off Party at Marc Events. Generous vendors provided delicious food and drink, beautiful lighting and décor, and informative displays. To learn more about the Sounds of the Season gala, visit www.soundsoftheseason.org.
