Mistakes You Are Making with Your Table Numbers at Your Wedding
August 13, 2026The Reality of Donating Your Flowers After Your Wedding
August 16, 2026For your wedding or special event, you may be creating large poster-sized signs that you for things like welcome signs, table assignment posters, etc. We make all these things through our invitation division of Significant Events, but you may be getting these done on your own. I have some tips to share with you to make sure you are setting yourself up for success with your signs on your event day.
#1: Foam Core Signs are Best
I know it costs a little bit more, but it is well worth the money to have your signs mounted on foam core. I know it costs less to get like a rolled up paper poster, but, first of all, paper wrinkles up so much whenever you unroll it from the poster tube. We always put foam core signs in frames to make them look nicer, and when you foam core, you do not have to put the sign behind glass. In fact, we remove the glass from all of our frames. Why? Because these signs are on easels, and sometimes they fall over. Wind knocks them over, guests knock them over, etc. I used to do the paper signs from poster tubes and roll them out and put them in frames with glass on them. But after so many of them got smashed to the ground, shattered dealing with broken glass on the day of the event, I finally stopped this method. We switched to foam core, but we still mount the signs in a frame. This has been a game changer. It looks so much better. The color is brighter. It’s sturdier. It’s safer. It can deal with weather better, and you don’t have to worry about somebody knocking over your poster and it breaking and shattering all over the ground.
#2: Double Down on Safety with Packing Tape
That being said, foam core is still light and, with a strong breeze, that sign can be whisked away. So, we always go to the back of the easel and add really strong packing tape and tape the frame to the back of the easel. This way, the sign stays attached to the easel and doesn’t blow away. Even if it falls, it’s still in good shape.
Posters are a great way to welcome your guests, to have fun facts about the guests of honor, to have table assignments, and lots of other things. Ensure the success of your signs by making sure they are mounted correctly on foam core and that they are on a sturdy easel with tape on the back that’s not going to fall over.
