How To Keep Guests Cool During Hot Wedding Ceremonies
August 6, 2026One of the best ways to finish off the look of your cake at your wedding is with cake stand and we have a whole bunch of cake stands. They all rent for $30. Anyone can rent them even if you’re not a client of ours. Of course, our Full Service clients get all of those things for free included in their package, but we have a whole lot of cake stands.
If you’re wondering how I got so many gold cake stands because gold cake stands are really hard to find…..I have a super secret supplier that only sells them to me! I’m totally kidding; they’re all spray painted. It’s just spray paint on silver cake stands to make them gold because we’ve had so many weddings with gold accents for the last few years. Here are three mistakes you are making when you are choosing your cake stand for your wedding.
#1: Choosing the Wrong Size
When you see your cake order from your cake bakery, it will tell you the sizes of the different tiers. Here’s the secret. Look at the bottom tier. Let’s say for sake of argument it’s 14 inches. You’re going to add 4 in to the size of that bottom tier, and that’s the size of a stand that you need. So, if you had a 14-inch tier and you got yourself a 14-inch cake stand, it’s going to be too small. You get yourself a 16-inch cake stand, it’s going to be too small. You need at least 18 inches, and bigger than that you can work as well, but sometimes it can look kind of funny to have so much extra space on the shelf of the cake stand. It’s really best to stick with that 4 inches on top of your bottom tier rule.
#2: Choosing the Wrong Shape
If your cake tier is round, your stand should be round. If your cake tier is square, your stand should be square. It looks really strange to have a round tier on a square stand and vice versa. The only exception to this I would say are those clear lucite stands. Those typically only come in squares and, because the cake looks kind of floating on them, I think it looks really nice to have a round tier on a square lucite stand. But everything else looks kind of strange. So, if your venue is telling you that they have a cake stand that you can use, you better ask a few questions. Is it the right size? Also, is it the right shape?
#3: Choosing the Wrong Color
Another issue I see that happens when people rely on the venue, almost all of which only have silver cake stands which are honestly out of style and may not match your design. Better to rent or buy a gold, white, black, acrylic, or wood cake stand that matches your room design. The cake is part of the design as well
