Our Dallas based couple Kristn & Tyson wanted the wedding of their dreams – a wine country wedding in picturesque Sonoma, CA – and that is just what we gave them! Friends and family alike traveled to this destination wedding weekend and were not disappointed! The wedding was held at a beautiful property in the heart of Sonoma with some very unique and interesting installation art accenting the venue amongst the vineyards. Guests entered the stunning ceremony and were offered hot apple cider to drink as an acoustic guitar played. Kristen’s modern gown paired beautifully with her lush fall bouquet of crimsons, greens, oranges, and golds. Following the moving ceremony with the gorgeous fall colors serving as the backdrop, guests proceeded to the barn patio where they enjoyed delicious passed hors d’ourves – all local and sustainable cuisine. An amazing dinner followed in the dining tent flanked with string lights over tables covered with breathtaking orange and green centerpieces and organic fruit. After much love and laughter over local wine and great food, guests proceeded back to the interior of the barn for the reception. Live Band Karaoke was the hit of the evening as guests got to show off their singing skills – or lack thereof! – on stage with the band rocking in accompaniment behind them. The barn was decorated with lounge furniture, loads of candles, and crystal chandeliers to create a space of rustic elegance. One the the biggest surprises of the evening was the wedding cake, which wasn’t made of cake at all, but rather from wheels of local artisan cheeses! When paired with toppings like fresh honeycomb and fig jam and alongside sweet treats from famed Bouchon Bakery in Yountville, CA, guests couldn’t get enough of the dessert table! A Polaroid guest book provided additional entertainment as did the open bar! Kristn & Tyson departed the evening under a shower of fall leaves that their guests threw in the air. It was truly a magical weekend, and Significant Events was honored to coordinate the whole thing from thousands of miles away!
Dallas, TX was home to the 2011 Solar International Convention, and after the convention itself, the solar giant MAGE Solar commissioned Significant Events for a fabulous after party! Held in the 2nd story loft space of the famed Gilley’s, we were tasked with attracting attendees upstairs to our space! We did so with custom gobos directing guests, vinyl signs with the MAGE logo everywhere we could put them, a bouncer in a MAGE shirt who greeted guests at the stairs, and live video feed on flat screen televisions to show the fun to be had upstairs. Guests entered the party to see the signature MAGE orange color and logo in many places. Sexy cigar rolling girls provided cigars for guests with custom labels outside on the patio where guests sat at cabanas with MAGE banners hanging from them. Gorgeous promotional models donning MAGE tees mingled, flirted, and danced with guests as they partied to the sounds of one of Dallas’ premier party bands. It became the party to attend in the space, and before you knew it we had 600-800 people in the room! It was a crazy evening but a total blast and a great representation of the MAGE Solar brand!
Becky and Lucas’s wedding was a perfect example of classic elegance. The main colors were black and white with subtle touches of blush here and there. Becky’s bridesmaids wore different versions of beautiful black gowns and carried lush white bouquets with cascades of ribbons and roses. Becky’s gorgeous gown sparkled as she walked down the aisle of the majestic Highland Park University church to an altar flanked by stunning blush floral arrangements and candles. Since Becky & Lucas met while working at a local aircraft manufacturer, we wanted to incorporate elements of airline travel into their wedding design. Guests entered the reception space with great views of downtown Dallas to pick up their “Boarding Pass/Escort Card” which took them to their “Gate/Table.” Upon arrival at their table adorned with elegant ivory and blush floral centerpieces, they also found the table labeled with a vintage postcard of a location that had a special meaning to Becky and Lucas. Guests enjoyed cocktail hour, complete with hors d’ourves and cocktails garnished with tiny kumquat airplanes! Dinner was served via several tasty food stations before guests enjoyed the lovely and delicious bridal cake as well as the groom’s cake in the shape of an airplane! Besides dancing for hours, guests also enjoyed donning vintage airplane uniforms in the photo booth. And what else for the send-off but paper airplanes which flew over Becky & Lucas’s heads before they departed in a Rolls Royce!
Jordana & Clarence were married in a sophisticated venue overlooking downtown Dallas. Jordana’s selected bold colors of fuchsia and purple were a perfect reflection of her style and taste. Guests enjoyed a beautiful ceremony as Jordana and her bridesmaids carried modern and sophisticated bouquets to their altar flanked with chic altar pieces and purple uplighting. Following the ceremony, guests enjoyed cocktails and hors d’ourves before passing through the draped entrance into the reception space with eggplant and purple smoke linens on the tables which were accented by a mix of high and low centerpieces in the selected colors. Guests enjoyed a delicious buffet dinner followed by cake. The cake table was decorated with pictures of both Jordana and Clarence’s parents cutting the cake at their respective weddings! This love and honor for family continued as both the First Dance songs of the couple’s parents were played as a mash-up with Jordana & Clarence’s first song, and all three couples danced together. The rest of the guests joined in and kept the party going for hours until Jordana and Clarence departed to a glow stick send off!
For Dave’s Surprise 50th Birthday Party, we designed the entire party around his all time favorite band: The Beatles, specifically the famed Beatles’ “LOVE” show in Vegas! A modern venue in Dallas was transformed through custom lighting with a red and yellow color palette inspired by the LOVE logo with large scale balloons and gigantic Beatles albums suspended from the ceiling. A custom invitation and monogram was created using Dave’s name in place of LOVE and incorporated into the party as well. Tables were covered with brown spandex linens with custom Beatles’ centerpieces on each table. Lounge furniture with pillows with the party logo gave guests an additional place to sit and LED highboy tables accentuated the space in various places. Custom Beatles’ vinyls were adhered to the walls and enlarged and mounted pictures of Dave’s life were suspended from the ceiling as well for an art gallery feel. Valet parking got guests into the venue quickly and custom draping shielded Dave’s view from the party inside. When he arrived, guests screamed “Surprise!” as they shot confetti rockets overhead! An even bigger surprise for Dave, who is originally from Omaha, is we flew in an awesome Beatles’ tribute band from Omaha which was revealed from behind a curtained stage! Guests, decked out in 1960’s costumes, were served drinks by Flair Bartenders who juggled bottles and sexy waitresses in Sgt Pepper costumes! A fun photo station was a huge hit as well, as guests enjoyed donning silly wigs and mustaches for a photo take-away. And no birthday party is complete without an amazing custom birthday cake! We had one for Dave along with a diverse dessert buffet. A moving and hilarious tribute video was played as Dave’s family and friends took time to roast him. Such a fun night for Dave and his family and friends!
Beth and Charlie’s vineyard wedding was a gorgeous event full of beautiful details and vintage, rustic elegance. Beth looked stunning in her vintage dress, holding her nature inspired bouquet filled with ivories, lush greenery, and brown pods. Bridesmaids carried a similar arrangement against their brown dresses. Custom vintage signage directed guests into the venue as did the moss wreaths on the doors of Beth & Charlie’s initials. A beautiful entry piece greeted guests as a stained wooden park bench functioned as the “guest book,” which now resides on the couple’s patio in their new home. The beautiful winery was overflowing with softly lit trees and natural aisle décor incorporating whites, greens, and tree trunks along with mason jars and other vintage containers. A string quartet played as guests were seated before Beth descended the majestic staircase to meet her groom. Following the ceremony, guests proceeded out to the Crush Pad for cold sangria, lemonade in mason jars, and vintage soda along with tasty appetizers, as the Significant Events’ staff flipped the room for the reception. Charlie and Beth got a chance to take some pictures amongst the blooming vines during cocktail hour as well! The reception was a stunning display of fern linens with centerpieces consisting of groupings of bird cages, bell jars, ferns, mosses, ivory garden roses, balsa wood flowers, tree trunks, mercury glass, and even coffee beans and cinnamon sticks to give the room a warm and inviting smell! After a family style dinner service, which was a new experience for most guests, everyone enjoyed the creative wedding cakes as well as the incredible dessert buffet with a variety of sweet treats. Custom banners adorned the dessert area as well. The Newlywed Game and dancing to the sounds of the DJ kept guests happy for hours before lining up outside for the sparkler send off. Favors were tiny bottles of olive oil, or “Olive Juice,” with custom labels! Beth and Charlie ended an incredible night by driving away in a Ferrari to their future happiness!
