Rae and Matt’s wedding in early December was a great time to incorporate some elements of the season, and they did it in style! The ceremony space at the historic venue overflowed with whites, creams, and ivories with touches of crystal and lush green ferns. Following the intimate ceremony with a solo violinist playing ceremony music, guests moved upstairs to pull their escort card off it’s display on a vintage door. The ballroom itself was stunning with a mix of round and square tables, crisp white linens, and silver chivari chairs. A soft blue uplighting transformed the space as did the different heights of gorgeous white centerpieces with touches of silver and crystal and, of course, tons of candlelight. Guests enjoyed a buffet dinner as well as the beautiful winter themed wedding cake Rae chose and the surprise cake for Matt from Rae: a Wrigley Field marquee cake for his favorite team! It brought Matt to tears when he saw how hard Rae had worked on this surprise! A great live band had the party going all night before Rae and Matt shared a private last dance before their glow stick send-off into their vintage limousine.
For the third consecutive year, Significant Events was honored to work with the Dallas Hearing Foundation to produce the Sounds of the Season gala. A cello ensemble played during cocktail hour as guests enjoyed flavorful passed hors d’ourves and cocktails and got the chance to bid on over 100 Silent Auction items via our new electronic bidding system. As the main program began, guests entered the sparkling ballroom with tables bedecked in silver and white linens with lush purple and blue floral centerpieces. Each table was named after a Dallas Hearing Foundation recipient and contained a picture of the corresponding recipient and his/her story of living with hearing loss. Guests enjoyed a delicious three course meal from the hotel’s noted chef. Our emcee for the evening, 106.1 KISS FM’s own Kellie Rasberry kicked off the evening’s entertainment which included a beautiful Nutcracker ballet performance from the Texas Ballet Theater. The heart of the evening was the presentation from several children and parents living with hearing loss who showed us how their lives had been substantially improved through the work of the Dallas Hearing Foundation. As dinner concluded, guests enjoyed a live auction, dancing, a wine pull, and photo favors from our photo station. Looking forward to making the event even better in 2012!
Our Dallas based couple Kristn & Tyson wanted the wedding of their dreams – a wine country wedding in picturesque Sonoma, CA – and that is just what we gave them! Friends and family alike traveled to this destination wedding weekend and were not disappointed! The wedding was held at a beautiful property in the heart of Sonoma with some very unique and interesting installation art accenting the venue amongst the vineyards. Guests entered the stunning ceremony and were offered hot apple cider to drink as an acoustic guitar played. Kristen’s modern gown paired beautifully with her lush fall bouquet of crimsons, greens, oranges, and golds. Following the moving ceremony with the gorgeous fall colors serving as the backdrop, guests proceeded to the barn patio where they enjoyed delicious passed hors d’ourves – all local and sustainable cuisine. An amazing dinner followed in the dining tent flanked with string lights over tables covered with breathtaking orange and green centerpieces and organic fruit. After much love and laughter over local wine and great food, guests proceeded back to the interior of the barn for the reception. Live Band Karaoke was the hit of the evening as guests got to show off their singing skills – or lack thereof! – on stage with the band rocking in accompaniment behind them. The barn was decorated with lounge furniture, loads of candles, and crystal chandeliers to create a space of rustic elegance. One the the biggest surprises of the evening was the wedding cake, which wasn’t made of cake at all, but rather from wheels of local artisan cheeses! When paired with toppings like fresh honeycomb and fig jam and alongside sweet treats from famed Bouchon Bakery in Yountville, CA, guests couldn’t get enough of the dessert table! A Polaroid guest book provided additional entertainment as did the open bar! Kristn & Tyson departed the evening under a shower of fall leaves that their guests threw in the air. It was truly a magical weekend, and Significant Events was honored to coordinate the whole thing from thousands of miles away!
What a fun wedding this was! A bride and groom with a great sense of humor and a wedding party who loved to party made the day a total blast for everyone! Sarah’s autumn inspired wedding was first introduced to guests with beautiful brown and gold invitations created by Significantly Said. Sarah’s flowers took the color scheme further with gorgeous bouquets and centerpieces in deep reds, greens, and golds and even incorporated autumn leaves. Following the ceremony, the reception was held at a local flight museum and guests got to enjoy seeing a non-traditional venue turned into a lovely event space for a wedding. Tables were covered with a muted gold linen next to fruitwood chivari chairs and autumn inspired centerpieces which glowed with the lighting we had installed. Sarah and her family hail from Louisiana and we had a subtle fleur de lis motif worked into the décor and the invitations. The hors d’ourves were Louisiana inspired as well using Cajun flavors and even included a Gumbo shooter that was a huge hit. After a delicious buffet dinner, guests enjoyed cake – Sarah’s in her signature colors and Kane’s a nod to his love for the Texas Rangers. To kick things off for the evening, the bride and groom had arranged with the DJ for funny introductions of their wedding party, and it was hilarious. And this group loved to dance, as the dancing began during dinner and didn’t stop the rest of the night. The photo booth was a great source of fun as well before the night ended with a romantic private last dance and a stretch limo send-off.
For our science teacher bride Amanda and engineer groom Andy, we wanted to create a wedding that was reflective of their life’s passions and unique style and personality, and we did just that! Combining the desire for a traditional and elegant ceremony with a fun and quirky reception, Significant Events was able to create a cohesive design that guests’ loved. Amanda’s yellow and green color palette was first revealed to guests through the beautiful invitations she received designed by Significantly Said – Invitations by Significant Events. The ceremony was held at a stunning Dallas catholic church, and Amanda carried a unique and interesting bright yellow bouquet while wearing her elegant lace gown. Bridesmaids’ in kelly green carried bouquets of yellow and white as well. Following the ceremony, guests arrived at the reception space, on the 42nd floor of a high rise with the most breathtaking views of the city of Dallas. Escort cards indicated that guests would be sitting at tables named after elements on the periodic table, and the table cards reflected this as well. The ballroom was draped in elegant white fabric from floor to ceiling and we added some soft yellow lighting to enhance the room and bring in the couple’s color scheme. Centerpieces consisted of 2 different styles: a unique and striking green and yellow design reflective of the “science” theme of the wedding, created by the florist; and a collection of several different elements Amanda and Andy loved, created by Significant Events which consisted of similar flowers from the other tables. On those tables, we also made some custom wrapped cubed vases: one with text about the wedding in Scrabble tiles, a nod to Andy & Amanda’s love of board games; and another with the dictionary definition of love, a nod to their love of grammar. Other fun elements such as paper flowers made out of periodic tables and maps decorated the tables as well! The cakes also displayed this theme as Amanda’s cake had detailing to look like strands of DNA, and Andy’s looked like a stack of his favorite board games! Guests enjoyed fun buffet stations before dancing and singing the night away and enjoying the company of good friends.
Dallas, TX was home to the 2011 Solar International Convention, and after the convention itself, the solar giant MAGE Solar commissioned Significant Events for a fabulous after party! Held in the 2nd story loft space of the famed Gilley’s, we were tasked with attracting attendees upstairs to our space! We did so with custom gobos directing guests, vinyl signs with the MAGE logo everywhere we could put them, a bouncer in a MAGE shirt who greeted guests at the stairs, and live video feed on flat screen televisions to show the fun to be had upstairs. Guests entered the party to see the signature MAGE orange color and logo in many places. Sexy cigar rolling girls provided cigars for guests with custom labels outside on the patio where guests sat at cabanas with MAGE banners hanging from them. Gorgeous promotional models donning MAGE tees mingled, flirted, and danced with guests as they partied to the sounds of one of Dallas’ premier party bands. It became the party to attend in the space, and before you knew it we had 600-800 people in the room! It was a crazy evening but a total blast and a great representation of the MAGE Solar brand!
